Homemade Funnel Cake

When Isabella and I woke up from our naps today, I really wanted a funnel cake (something I always crave when I'm pregnant). I found a recipe for funnel cake over a year ago, and have never tried, so I thought, what the heck....we'll see if it's any good. Well.....it is SO GOOD!!!!!!

Here's the recipe:

2 3/4 c. flour

1/2 c. sugar

2 eggs

2 c. milk

1/2 tsp. salt

2 1/4 tsp. baking powder

Mix the ingredients in order. Heat a pan with about 2 inches of oil in it until it's really hot. Pour in batter (I tried to make mine swirly) and fry it until each side is golden brown. When it's done, put it on a paper towel to absorb the grease and put powdered sugar on it (even though you really don't have to have it....the dough itself is really good too). Then CHOW DOWN! SO GOOD!

Baby clothes

She was running towards me with the shirt around her ankles....she is obsessed with seeing the "baby" (herself) on the camera.
This is as far as the shirt would come up. She was so proud of herself that she put it on without mami's help.

Isabella found an outfit for a baby and decided that she was going to put it on. She put the shirt on her legs, but she couldn't get it pulled up very far....she is so silly.

Father's Day Continued

I love this picture of Nathan and Isabella....my brother's all just adore her. Nathan calls her "cookie" sometimes, so Isabella calls him "Uncle Cookie"....but she came up with this, I swear. I always try to get her to say Uncle Nathan, but she insists on Uncle Cookie. I love when my husband smiles, I just fall in love with him all over again.
Ronald is VERY musically inclined, but can't read music worth anything. He has an amazing talent of being able to just sit down, pick up an instrument, and making some pretty good music. I love this about him.
Isabella at the old well in the back yard. I used to watch my Daddy kill and gut chickens on the block at the well. It might be gross, but I really loved helping him with the guts and watching the chickens flop around. What can I say....I'm a country girl.

I love this group shot of my siblings...every one (except Tanner...the stinker, and Isabella) is smiling. I love my siblings so much....we are all so close, and they are good to Isabella.

My Daddy just sent me a few pictures that he captured from Father's Day, and they were so good, so I just had to put them up here. (I LOVE my Dad's digital camera....someday we'll have a nice one like his...maybe.)

Father's Day

My two most favorite people.

Nathan, me, Tanner, Grant, Grace, Ronald and Isabella
Isabella, Nathan, Tanner, me, Daddy, Grant and Grace
Dirty toes from walking in muddy puddles.....I love the country life.
Uncle Grant and Isabella looking at the motorcycle going by.
Playing on Grandpa's piano.....she loved that she could climb up on the piano bench by herself.
Isabella loves her Uncle Nathan.
Tio (Uncle Tanner) is always working on his music....he is getting really good, especially considering he hasn't had any lessons at all.

She is so happy in the puddles. What a pretty girl.
Taking Uncle Grant to the puddles.

Gracie made four pans of lasagna all by herself....it was really good. Good job Grace!
Enjoying the dinner.
Isabella is sitting in the high chair that I used to sit in at my Mom-mom's house when I was little.
Checking out the mud on her toes.
SPLASH SPLASH....she LOVES puddles.

Yesterday we went to my Dad's house to have Father's Day dinner. My brothers and sister were there, too, which was really nice. We had a lovely visit with each other. Gracie made lasagna, I made rolls and brownies from scratch, and Grant brought salad....it was all really yummy. I really really miss living in the country. It's so quite and beautiful up there, and there is so much land for Isabella to run around on. I'm so glad that my Dad lives in the country...at least we can visit.

Silly girl

We let some of my mom's co-workers borrow our bassinett, and we finally picked it up from her house. When I brought it in the house, Isabella but her baby in it, climbed in, and layed on down. She's so silly....she layed in there for about 10 minutes.

A beautiful summer day

Trying to climb up to the slide in Isabella's new pool. This pool is just like the one we had when we were kids and lived in Delta, PA.
CHEESE!
Drawing with her new sidewalk chalk.
Her first time in the pool....I don't think she quite knew what to do.

It is so stinking HOT today....but I must admit, I do love it. This morning Isabella and I went out front and drew on the sidewalk. When it got too hot we went out back and got in her new pool that Ronald got on Saturday. I LOVE this pool.....it's really nice and has a little slide on it. I got Isabella a bucket and shovel and we took turns scooping and dumping the water. We were in the pool for at least an hour....it felt so cool. At first I thought it was going to be warm since Ronald filled it up on Saturday, and it's been way hot the past couple of days....but the water was really cold. I could barely sit down in it at first. We had a lot of fun. Thanks Ronald for buying the pool!

Strawberry day

The strawberry picking clan....Sommer, Brandon, Isabella, me, and Grace.
Isabella and Gracie in the strawberry field.
Sommer and Brandon with the fruits of their labor.
Isabella with her strawberry juice covered face.

WHAT A HOT DAY!!!! It was 90 some degrees when we went to pick strawberries, and it was humid, but it was a lot of fun picking our berries. Poor Brandon was so hot that he just fussed and wanted to be held. Isabella was eating every strawberry she could find. I want to do this again next year, but definately earlier in May sometime. The berries were really picked through, and it was too hot. But at least we got some yummy berries.

Ronald's Birthday- June 5, 2008

The birthday boy.....he's so handsome.
All of our company....we were very tightly squeezed together in our dining room.

On Ronald's actual birthday, he wanted to have some friends over, so we invited the Rennie's and the Finnigan's. I made him lasagna, homemade rolls, Sommer brought salad, and for dessert I made my Mom-mom's cheesecake. Everything was really yummy. Thanks, Sommer, for taking pictures. Things were so crazy for me that I didn't get the chance to take any. Ronald really enjoyed his birthday.

A Day with Auntie Beebs

Auntie Beebs and Isabella
Helping Mami hang clothes on the line.
I love my Auntie Beebs!

Getting ready to go for a walk.
Looking at Papi's hard work....he does such a good job.
Little Miss Independent....she loves her walks....especially when she is allowed to walk by herself.
Thinking about getting in the stroller....
but she decided she really didn't want to do that.
Gracie comes to stay with us every other Friday night. Saturday morning Grace, Isabella, and I went for a walk around the neighborhood and then hung the laundry out to dry. Isabella and I usually take a walk everyday (when it's not down pouring), so it was nice to have Grace come with us. Isabella loves when her Auntie Beebs comes to stay.
